My new toy - Samsung Galaxy-S

Finally I have decided to go for Galaxy-S after earlier comparison with HTC Desire even though both units in terms of features are almost the same. The differences are lower battery consumption (2x lower); longer standby/talk time (2x longer); embedded 16GB memory; Amoled touchscreen with 4inch wide display that is more than enough reasons to go for and i believed it is the biggest touchscreen display ever have in the Android smartphone market currently. It is light (119g) and handy while holding it in my palm too.

That's lot of interesting apps/tools are mostly are practical and applied to my daily use. It toke me almost crazy over night to explore it inside out while played around the useful apps, just trying to get myself familiarize in a short period. The package is price is RM1699 and i just signed up the lowest voice plan (RM50/mth) and data plan (RM48/mth) for starting before upgrade it if it's necessary in future, just because Maxis don't allowed for downgrade but upgrade the plan only...
($@#%^&*&^%$!...) and i just have canceled the company's stupid corporate plan for 2 years (6 months remaining) without need to pay penalty charges as long as the contract  fulfilled minimum 18 months requirement

Moreover, Android ver2.2 will be released somewhere next month and i can upgrade it for free from the current version 2.1 without hassle. Android o/s phone will overtake Windows mobile sooner or later in the mobile phone market, and I have no regret to go for Android phone in the latest o/s phone technology which is much more better than Windows o/s based phone.

** This phone is really caught attention to most of my colleagues and friends while i'm holding it in my palm for as i noticed that sometimes ... perhaps it's still new for now ~~  :-)

Mobile phone buying considerations

It's time to change my phone after been using it for years. As i have made comparisons on few manufacturers touchscreen models such like IPhone, HTC, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc... and now, HTC has caught my attention with its two models for my further considerations - 'Desire' and 'Legend'. It seems both model's designs and features are more or less the same, and i think the last consideration will be the price... of course.

HTC Desire (Bravo) -
HTC Desire is one of the most impressive phones of all time. Despite being significantly cheaper than the iPhone, it can match or beat everything that the iPhone does. An Android smartphone with a fabulously responsive touchscreen, the Desire packs in a huge choice of apps, brilliant web browsing, one of the biggest and best screens ever, a good camera, a music player and GPS too. Add in a superfast processor, monster battery, WiFi and a 3.5mm headphone jack and you've got the perfect phone.

HTC Legend -
HTC Legend is a gorgeous compact touchscreen phone with a brushed alloy finish. It runs the latest Android 2.1 operating system, so there are loads of apps available from the Android market. It has all the usual smartphone features, including GPS, a music player, FM radio, 5 megapixel camera and fast internet access. It's also equipped with a fast processor, plenty of memory and good battery life. Definitely a hot phone!

Canon EOS 7D

After numbers of testing with my EOS 500D with most possible settings i could, i found some limitation on the camera in term of shooting speed restricted me to get a satisfied picture quality i wanted.  Nevertheless it's still a good camera for normal photo shooting but i intended to upgrade my model later to a higher performance model - EOS 7D. This model is come with 18 mega pixels sensor with 8 frames per second continuous shooting and it's kind of 'full weather' camera as it can be sustained in a snowy & freezing temperature environment. Here's the 7D's key features that caught my attention. Surely, i would sell my current model before getting 7D.

-18MP APS-C CMOS sensor
- 8 frames per second continuous shooting
- 1080p HD video recording with manual controls
- 3.0 inch Clear View II LCD screen with 920,000 dots
- 19-point AF system (all cross-type)
- 1.0x magnification and 100% coverage viewfinder
- Wireless flash control
- Environmental sealing

CNY goodies - camera lens and accessories

That's all my 'CNY 年货' extra goodies bought on last Sunday that included with a prime lens (F1.8 / 50mm) for portrait, indoor and night view shooting; solid tripod (cheap, beautiful, nice);  wireless remote switch and another backup battery. All these stuffs cost me about RM600 and don't think i could get it any lower at anywhere else. I think i got all camera gears that i need for Cameron Highlands & HK-Macau trip later on.  Hopefully this festive season will bring me a wonderful celebration and a good year to come for my careers and personal life.

My new toy - Canon EOS-500D

After i've been waiting for two weeks, perhaps it may be a long waiting for my SLR camera and finally i got it today, what a great feeling when holding it ! This good deal package is come with 8GB class 4 memory with EFs 18:200mm zoom lens (oh yes !), better than the normal kit lens (18:55mm) which is giving short distance focal length. I had some night view shots shooting at the high rise buildings while testing on different shooting modes and the output results was great.

Well, there's lot's of mode settings and built-in features i need to play around and trying to get it handy in two weeks time before i get another prime lens, is more cater for portrait shots and night views because of greater aperture exposure. Meanwhile, I will make full use of it whenever at my leisure and trying to capture different kind of shots especially for sightseeing views and people. Well, it's really nice feeling while taking pictures everywhere as i go with great satisfaction in photographing.

Photographing

It's like a 'second-comeback' taking up photographing ever since i gave up this hobby in my teenage because of financial constraint. It's been a long while and thanks to a friend of mine brought me back to the world of photography again. After few comparisons and forum studies on DSLR cameras for my consideration, i have decided to to get a mid-end model which is Canon EOS 500D with EFS 18:200mm F/3.5-5.6 zoom lens.

This model is seems just nice for me in terms of features (below) and not forgetting the reasonable price which is about RM4000-4500K. Hopefully will get a best deal from friend and should be getting it in two weeks.

  • Face Detection in Live View

  • HDMI output
  • Larger buffer in continuous shooting
  • Digic 4 style menu design
